Nanotechnology News – January 2019

News this month tells us that the US administration is ripping up the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty , the treaty was signed by Russia and the US in 1987 and aimed to limit the ‘nuclear’ arms race .

So begins a new chapter in world history and a new and potentially far more destructive arms race .

Both sides blame the other for violating the treaty , which actually means they have all been violating the treaty , including those that never signed the treaty in the first place . Such treaties are worthless between global hierarchies who operate a system based purely on acquisition , resulting in wholesale and inevitable fear and paranoia . Considering that hypersonic missiles are now being developed by a wide variety of countries do not expect the ‘big boys’ to use them on each other .

Strange sounds and lights in the sky can now be conveniently blamed on ‘missile tests’ .

Another phoney cold war will also allow the deep state to further expand its exotic arsenal and also consolidate the base and bunker command and control infrastructure .

As a NASA scientist confessed this month :

“…….technology ultimately determines the balance of power on Earth, and we are doing things that are very, very advanced technology,”

“There are people who would love to use it not for the benefit of humankind, but for their own power purposes.”

I would like to know exactly how taking pretty pictures of stars has benefited mankind ?

Surely most if not all scientists embedded with government agencies (and increasingly privatized governmental organizations) now realize that deep state science has been weaponized , commercialized , bastardized & militarized .

Definitely in a state of denial .

There are other ongoing experimental research projects involving hypersonic travel and hypersound , not officially related to WMD’s (weapons of mass destruction) , a more appropriate definition would be weapons of manufactured dimensions .

In fact there are a myriad of experimental projects involving sound waves .

The effects of which have been found to even melt steel .

Much of the early research was pioneered by Russian scientists and later by US scientists .

Makes you think .

Nanotechnology News – January 2019

Genetics

Cultocracy note :

Imaging helps neuroscientists map the inner workings of the human mind , useful for hybrid AI applications .

They now know you better than you know yourself .

Bear in mind that any scientific findings from flies or mice are worthless to the controllers , they will eventually have to be transferred and tested on human subjects .

Experimentation on mammals is usually draped in a publicly palatable wrapper .

First they came for the flies , then they came for the mice………..

Three-day imaging captures hi-res, cinematic view of fly brain

“A new fly-through of the fly brain allows anyone to whizz past neurons and visit any of the 40 million synapses where neurons touch neuron. It’s a super-resolution view of the complex network connections in the insect’s brain that underlie behaviors ranging from feeding to mating.”

“A fine-scale map of the complete neural network of the brain—the human brain but also that of the mouse and fly—has been a dream of neuroscientists for decades. With it, they could trace the connections between neurons to understand how the brain makes decisions. And by counting synapses, neuroscientists could judge the strength of neural connections, such as those responsible for memory.”

Gene Drives Work in Mice (if They’re Female)

“Gene drives violate the normal rules of inheritance by making sure they get passed down to all of their host organism’s offspring, not just to half of them; they therefore have the unnerving potential to rapidly and irrevocably alter a population. ”

“Although a combination of legal restrictions, ethical concerns and fears of unintended consequences has held back gene drives from being tested in the wild, the allure of the hypothetical good they might do has compelled scientists to continue studying them.”

Engineers create a nanoformulated inhalable form of messenger RNA

“Messenger RNA, which can induce cells to produce therapeutic proteins, holds great promise for treating a variety of diseases. The biggest obstacle to this approach so far has been finding safe and efficient ways to deliver mRNA molecules to the target cells. ”

“MIT researchers have now designed an inhalable form of mRNA. This aerosol could be administered directly to the lungs to help treat diseases such as cystic fibrosis, the researchers say.”

Quantum Computing & Communications

Cultocracy note :

The AI ‘revolution’ appears to have hit a road block .

It’s fine owning a fast car , but not if the driver is blind .

The jam is caused by the fact that AI systems are now simply too complex for the human mind to comprehend .

New machine learning methods are being investigated .

At present , unsuspecting human targets & guinea pigs are at the forefront of ‘teaching’ military grade AI systems .

The future ?

AI teaching AI ?

Sounds more like the blind leading the blind to me .

No room for wimps in the quantum realm

Atari master : New AI smashes Google DeepMind in video game challenge

“A new breed of algorithms has mastered Atari video games 10 times faster than state-of-the-art AI, with a breakthrough approach to problem solving. ”

“Zambetta said the system would work outside of video games in a wide range of tasks, when supplied with raw visual inputs.”

“It means that, with time, this technology will be valuable to achieve goals in the real world, whether in self-driving cars or as useful robotic assistants with natural language recognition,”

“Other state-of-the-art systems have required human input to identify these sub-goals or else decided what to do next randomly.”

A New Approach to Understanding How Machines Think

“Neural networks are famously incomprehensible — a computer can come up with a good answer, but not be able to explain what led to the conclusion. Been Kim is developing a “translator for humans” so that we can understand when artificial intelligence breaks down.”

“You believe that without interpretability, humankind might just give up on AI technology. Given how powerful it is, do you really think that’s a realistic possibility?”

5G

Cultocracy note :

The battle for 5G is closely related to military and technological supremacy .

As with most wars , humanity and the natural environment will suffer the most , expect continued destruction and decimation .

A comparatively few number of front men and investors will get extremely rich .

I wonder why 5G networks are ‘vital to future military operations‘ ?

The public have been informed that 5G is a commercial enterprise based on profit ?

Unless the military itself is now a commercial enterprise ?

New progress toward chip-based ghost imaging

“For the first time, researchers have shown that the non-conventional imaging method known as ghost imaging can be performed using a low-cost, chip-based light-illuminating device. This important step toward chip-based ghost imaging could make the imaging method practical for applications such as chip-scale biomedical imaging, light detection and ranging (LIDAR), and internet-of-things sensing devices.”

A sustainable and recyclable carbon nanotubes thermoelectric paper

“Instead of making a material for energy, we cultivate it”

“Bacteria, dispersed in an aqueous culture medium containing sugar and carbon nanotubes, produce the nanocellulose fibers that end up forming the device, in which the carbon nanotubes are embedded”

“These devices could be used to generate electricity from residual heat to feed sensors in the field of the Internet of Things, Agriculture 4.0 or Industry 4.0”

Cultocracy note :

Energy harvesting technologies which capture electromagnetic wave energy have been around for decades .

Very soon you will not even need your Ready Brek .

Converting Wi-Fi signals to electricity with new 2-D materials

“Imagine a world where smartphones, laptops, wearables, and other electronics are powered without batteries. Researchers from MIT and elsewhere have taken a step in that direction, with the first fully flexible device that can convert energy from Wi-Fi signals into electricity that could power electronics.”

Putting that free energy around you to good use with minuscule energy harvesters

“Scientists at Tokyo Tech developed a micro-electromechanical energy harvester that allows for more flexibility in design, which is crucial for future Internet of Things (IoT) applications (A MEMS Vibratory Energy Harvester Charged by an Off-chip Electret )”

“Nowadays, it would be hard to not notice that electronic devices have become incredibly small. The use of miniature sensors in the upcoming Internet of Things era could enable us to develop applications that were only seen in science fiction.”

Cultocracy note :

The above device is sure to be a hit with the ladies if nothing else .

Static electricity could charge our electronics

“Static electricity is one of the most common, yet poorly understand, forms of power generation. A new study suggests the cause of this hair-raising phenomenon is tiny structural changes that occur at the surface of materials when they come into contact with each other. The finding could someday help technology companies create more sustainable and longer-lasting power sources for small electronic devices. ”

Synthetic Biology Systems Farmers

Cultocracy note :

The military industrial complex is the main player regarding research in the field of synthetic biology .

‘Generation Z’ is very appropriate term .

Human ‘volunteers’ need not apply .

Tread very carefully around the sites of large defence & aerospace contractors .

‘Systems Farmer’, ‘AI Translator’: experts predict jobs in 2040

“Looking to the future, technologists at BAE have predicted which jobs will be in demand in the 2030s and 40s, specifically in the field of AI, wearables and synthetic biology.”

Artificial bug eyes

“…….scientists are developing artificial compound eyes to give sight to autonomous vehicles and robots, among other applications.”

Artificial skin could give superhuman perception

“Researchers wanted to create a sensor that can mimic the sensing properties of skin.”

“It would be very cool if it had abilities human skin does not; for example, the ability to detect magnetic fields, sound waves, and abnormal behaviors,” said Mosa.”

3D-printing ears with nanocellulose

“…………the objective is to incorporate both human cells and therapeutics into the base structure in order to produce biomedical implants. ”

Quantum structure of buckyballs

Buckyballs, first discovered in 1984, have created great scientific excitement.”

“The buckyball is the most symmetric molecule known, with a soccer-ball-like shape known as a modified icosahedron.”

The core of each atom possesses an identical property known as “nuclear spin,” which enables it to interact magnetically with its environment. Therefore, each spin could act as a magnetically controlled quantum bit or “qubit” in a quantum computer.”

‘Metallic Wood’ has the strength of titanium

“And just as the porosity of wood grain serves the biological function of transporting energy, the empty space in the researchers’ “metallic wood” could be infused with other materials. Infusing the scaffolding with anode and cathode materials would enable this metallic wood to serve double duty: a plane wing or prosthetic leg that’s also a battery.”

Magnetic teeth hold promise for materials and energy

“A mollusk with teeth that can grind down rock may hold the key to making next generation abrasion-resistant materials and nanoscale materials for energy.”

What keeps spiders on the ceiling?

“……….spiders easily climb vertical surfaces or move upside down on the ceiling. A thousand tiny hairs at the ends of their legs make sure they do not fall off……..these bristle-like hairs (so-called setae) mainly consist of proteins and chitin, which is a polysaccharide. ”

“Using highly energetic X-ray light, the researchers discovered that the chitin molecules of the setae are specifically arranged to withstand the stresses of constant attachment and detachment. ”

Nanowire-infused ‘fire-resistant Xuan paper’ lasts for 3000 years

“Xuan paper is an excellent example of the traditional handmade paper, and features excellent properties of durability, ink wetting, and resistance to insects and mildew.”

“……..a team led by Prof. ZHU Yingjie from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of Chinese Academy of Sciences developed a new kind of “fire-resistant Xuan paper” based on ultralong hydroxyapatite nanowires. ”

Cultocracy note :

Might keep the book burners at bay for a few hours .

Implants

Cultocracy note :

Perhaps we should all start to ask exactly why a large portion of scientific reasearch is obsessed with the human brain and exactly where the reasearch will lead .

On the plus side , deep state research is increasingly being applied to more humane applications .

The age old battle between good and evil .

Graphene can hear your brain whisper

“A newly developed graphene-based implant can record electrical activity in the brain at extremely low frequencies and over large areas, unlocking the wealth of information found below 0.1 Hz.”

“The study, just published in Nature Materials describes how this ground-breaking technology will enhance our understanding of the brain and pave the way for the next generation of brain-computer interfaces.”

Researchers have been using electrode arrays to record the brain’s electrical activity for decades

Ultra-sensitive sensor with gold nanoparticle array

“Scientists from the University of Bath (UK) and Northwestern University (USA) have developed a new type of sensor platform using a gold nanoparticle array, which is 100 times more sensitive than current similar sensors.”

“The sensor is made up of a series of gold disk-shaped nanoparticles on a glass slide. The team at Bath discovered that when they shone an infra-red laser at a precise arrangement of the particles, they started to emit unusual amounts of ultra violet (UV) light.”

“This technique could enable ultra-sensitive detection of molecules in tiny volumes. It could in the future be used for detecting very low concentrations of biological markers for the early diagnostic screening for diseases, such as cancer.”

Tiny, implantable device uses light to treat bladder problems

“The team created a soft, implantable device that can detect overactivity in the bladder and then use light from tiny, biointegrated LEDs to tamp down the urge to urinate.”

“The researchers also inject proteins called opsins into the animals’ bladders. The opsins are carried by a virus that binds to nerve cells in the bladder, making those cells sensitive to light signals. This allows the researchers to use optogenetics — the use of light to control cell behavior in living tissue — to activate those cells. ”

Graphene

Researchers Have Synthesized Graphene Quantum Dots for Solar Cell Application

“These QDs have exclusive electronics and optical properties and have been applied in a broad range of applications such as photoelectrochemical (PEC), photodetector, photocatalysis, solar cells, bioimaging, light emitting diode (LED), metal ions detection, and electroluminescence devices.”

Graphene and related materials safety: Human health and the environment

“As the drive to commercialise graphene continues, it is important that all safety aspects are thoroughly researched and understood. The Graphene Flagship project studies the impact of graphene and related materials on human health, as well as its environmental impact. This enables safety by design to become a core part of innovation.”

“One of the key messages is that this family of materials has varying properties, thus displaying varying biological effects.”

Environment

Cultocracy note :

Although ‘green’ nanotechnologies are being researched , these will be outweighed by potentially toxic and yet highly profitable nanotechnologies .

Expect more and more glyphosate style pseudo science & ‘nanopropaganda’* to hit the mainstream news channels in the future as profits start to rise (see graphene article above) .

*(with heavy use of buzzwords such as ‘sustainability’, ‘health’ & ‘well-being’)

Nanomaterials are changing the world—but we still don’t have adequate safety tests for them

“Nanotechnology may well be one of the most talked about industries of the last few years. Predicted to value US$173.95 billion globally by 2025, this fast-moving sector is already delivering major sustainability, health and well-being benefits to society.”

“Although standard hazard assessments are available for a wide range of things – such as chemical compounds – nanomaterials have unique properties so cannot be evaluated in exactly the same way.”

Using bacteria to create a graphene oxide based water filter that kills bacteria

“More than one in 10 people in the world lack basic drinking water access, and by 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas .”

“Engineers at Washington University in St. Louis have designed a novel membrane technology that purifies water while preventing biofouling, or buildup of bacteria and other harmful microorganisms that reduce the flow of water.”

“And they used bacteria to build such filtering membranes. ”

Toxicity

Cultocracy note :

News this month confirms that nanoparticles can cause an inflammatory response in humans and probably other mammals .

Inflamatory type disease covers a wide variety of common ailments .

Bad news of course , for some at least .

Nano-Toxicity: Are Nanoparticles in Food and Our Environment the New Health Epidemic?

“When it comes to creating and using nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanowires, quantum dots, and nano-machines, the attitude among scientists and product developers is, “If it can be done, then it should be done.” Another way of saying this is, “If we don’t know about the harm that it does, then there isn’t any harm.”

“…the WHO recognizes that there are hundreds of thousands of manmade nano-creations – so many that safety studies couldn’t be done on them all.”

“They know there are risks, but they aren’t sure what they should do to manage the situation.”

“Nanoparticles behave in unusual and unexpected ways, and can contribute to developmental problems and chronic illness even though larger particles of the same material have much less risk of harm.”

Dietary nanoparticulates impact gut microbiome

” ‘Microbiome‘ describes all colonizing microorganisms present in a human being, in particular, all the bacteria in the gut.”

“Scientists and clinicians are interested in microbiomes because of their positive or negative effects on the host. These include modulation of our immune system, metabolism, vascular aging, cerebral functioning, and our hormonal system.”

“nanoparticle-bound microorganisms were less efficiently recognized by the immune system, which may lead to increased inflammatory responses.”

Medical

Cultocracy note :

Just like the original gold rush , expect any new technological gold rush to be infiltrated and eventually infested with fraudsters , tonic salesmen , charlatans , quacks and other related and associated human filth .

Nanogenerators turn body motion Into weight control and wound-healing therapies

“………..bioengineers have developed implantable and wearable nanogenerators from special materials that create electrical pulses when compressed by body motions. The pulses controlled weight gain and enhanced healing of skin wounds in rat models.

New Study Describes an Important Step in Activation of the Immune System Against Nanoparticles

“…………millions of years of evolution have prepared the body to recognize and eliminate foreign particles, even nanoparticles. ”

“the Simberg lab demonstrated that one of the most important constituents of the immune system, viz., the complement system, does not have the ability to attack nanoparticles if they are not coated with protein corona. ”
