Survival of Northern White Rhino Hinges on Last Sick Male

Cultocracy note :

Tragic .

The plight of this White Rhino sums up everything that is wrong with the world . Rhino numbers could have been stabilized years ago except for the demand for it’s horn , primarily used as a status symbol , where does the demand come from ?

The wealthy ‘elite’ ? Or the poor ‘useless eaters’ ?

Not a single one of my great grand parents had a ‘Rhino umbrella stand‘ in the hall or a ‘Tiger skin rug‘ .

The wealthy ‘elites’ would have us believe that it is our fault , overpopulation .

Not so , it is overconsumption , corporate and personal greed and a generalized rampant consumer culture which is driving these extinctions .

A consumer culture that they have created to feed their own insane lust for power and wealth .

Anything that has a value is systematically devoured and destroyed .

Could be us one day .

Sudan, a 45-year-old male northern white rhino, is suffering from a nasty infection on his back right leg, which festered underneath an age-related ailment he developed last year. This new infection is not responding to treatment, and his keepers are considering euthanasia if the pain gets to be too much for him. “It has been a struggle,” says Kaddu Sebunya, president of the African Wildlife Foundation. “We’re so concerned that the male rhino is now ailing, and we might lose him. We’re in a hopeless situation.”
